Getting Here by Air, Rail, or Road

You are reminded that, to enter France, you must have a minimum six month's validity on your passport

Transport from your home is not included in our pricing. However, once you have arrived in our area, a free transfer service to and from airports or railway stations is provided by us (subject to our Terms & Conditions).

You should aim to arrive on a Saturday. We can accommodate other arrival days if necessary but, as this necessitates hiring additional vehicles and drivers specifically for this purpose, we have to levy a supplement of 150 euros for each such trip.

Of course if you prefer to hire a car and drive to us (perhaps because one person is not going to participate in the painting or photography schedules and/or because you wish to arrive mid-week and want to make your own arrangements for getting here) Europcar and others have desks at the arrival airports.

In any event, whether you choose to fly to us, drive, or come by train, you will find that getting here is very easy :

The air routes shown below are as they were pre-pandemic. As flight schedules are still not yet fully back to normal, you will need to check with each individual airline to obtain up to date information regarding points of departure and arrival currently in use.

By Air from the UK and Ireland
Clicking the links in bold type below will connect you with the airlines and airports listed:

Flights to: Bergerac
(60 mins away)

Ryanair
Flights to Bordeaux
(65 mins away)

EasyJet

Ryanair

British Airways

Other airlines
Lufthansa, Air France and several others also fly in to the area. You can find flights for these at Google Flights, Skyscanner.net and Flightsfrom.com

By Air from other countries
Paris is the main 'hub' for long-haul international flights, with either connecting flights or TGV (high speed train) links to Bordeaux (which is our primary pick-off / drop-off airport for international travellers) However, London, Amsterdam, and Frankfurt have all been used as 'hubs' to get to Bordeaux by previous guests. You can find flights to these hubs at Google Flights, Skyscanner.net and Flightsfrom.com

By Rail
The high speed TGV runs from Paris to Bordeaux, taking just two hours and enabling connections to our local station at Tonneins which is an hour from Bordeaux

We will collect you from Tonneins station (10 minutes away)
Please check with the French rail service, SNCF, for full service information in English. You may book tickets online and have them posted to the UK. Discounts usually apply to the over-60s.

By Road
We are just 15 minutes from the A62 autoroute

Using a GPS/SatNav device that allows navigating to precise co-ordinates, you can target us at 44º23'14"N 0º15'42"E
The decimal equivalents of those co-ordinates are Latitude 44.387528, Longitude 0.261531
The Mapcode for our address is FRA CRF6.HPQ
If your device/app doesn't cater for co-ordinates, just enter the town/village as 'Lagruere' and the address as '1912, Rue du Mouliot'. If that fails, try simply 'St. Juin, Lagruere'.

If you are thinking of renting a car as part of your holiday, we can certainly recommend the use of Europcar. We use Europcar ourselves whenever we need to rent a vehicle here or in the UK. We find their rates very competitive and their service is on a par with similar companies, plus they have an office in Marmande (just 16 kms away from us here in France). And no, unfortunately, we don't gain anything from this recommendation!
